Para montar un acuario de agua salada necesitarás: un tanque, filtros, calentador, iluminación adecuada para tus peces y corales, si planeas tenerlos, un termómetro, un sistema de circulación de agua y un refractómetro para medir la salinidad.
Selecciona el tamaño del acuario adecuado
Tanque
Considera el espacio que tienes disponible y el tipo de peces que deseas mantener. Se recomienda un tanque cuanto más grande mejor, al menos 100 litros, preferiblemente cúbico para facilitar la circulación del agua alrededor de la roca viva.
Mueble o mesa para acuarios
Si ya tienes algún mueble pensado para poner tu acuario, debes asegurarte de que sea lo bastante robusto para soportar el peso del acuario, y que tenga algo de margen para futuras expansiones de tu acuario.
Tipos de sistema de filtrado
El filtro es uno de los accesorios más importantes para nuestro acuario, gracias al filtro mantendremos el agua en movimiento, oxigenada y libre de bacterias e impurezas. La potencia del filtro depende de la carga biológica del acuario y la cantidad de peces que tengamos.
Se recomienda que el filtro mueva de dos a seis veces el volumen total del acuario por hora.
Filtro de Esponja
Ideal para atrapar partículas grandes y proporcionar un lugar para que crezcan las bacterias beneficiosas. Funciona con un compresor de aire que hace circular el agua a través de una esponja para retener la suciedad.
Filtro Biológico o Roca Viva: Fomenta el crecimiento de bacterias beneficiosas para los habitantes del acuario, para ello necesitaremos aproximadamente 1 kilo por cada 10 litros de agua del acuario.
Filtro de mochila o cascada: Se cuelga del acuario, no ocupando espacio dentro. Tiene un tubo de absorción y una cascada de salida dentro del acuario, mientras que el motor y la materia filtrante quedan fuera.
Este tipo de filtro suelen venir equipados con un skimmer de superficie, lo que mejora la limpieza del agua al eliminar residuos de la superficie además ayuda a mantener la calidad del agua optima.
La elección del filtro depende del tamaño del acuario, así como de tu preferencia personal.
Calentador
Necesario para mantener la temperatura del agua, que dependerá del tipo de peces que tengas en tu acuario. Por lo general, la temperatura promedio para acuarios marinos oscila entre los 25 – 26º. Para elegir el calentador, podemos seguir la regla de al menos 1 watio por cada litro de agua.
Hay tres tipos principales de calentadores: los de pinza, los sumergibles y los electrónicos.
Iluminación
Esencial para el crecimiento de corales y el aspecto general del acuario. Normalmente, el acuario que elijas vendrá ya con la iluminación incorporada.
